The grim history of Palm Island, that lead to the tragic death in custody of Indigenous man Cameron Doomadgee in 2004, and the events central to Levitt Robinson’s historic class action against the Queensland Government, is being retold through a vivid stage production in Brisbane.

‘Beautiful One Day’ is due for a five-show run at the Brisbane festival, marking its debut on the Queensland mainland. Co-creator and performer Rachel Maza says the state has a long history of remaining silent about Aboriginal issues. “A lot Queenslanders don’t know the stories of their own backyard.”
