Expertise & Experience

Svetlana has experience in Insurance Litigation and Dispute Resolution. She has practised in the areas of Debt Recovery, Aviation, Personal Injury, Public Liability and Commercial Disputes.

She has appeared in the local, state and federal jurisdictions and instructed junior and senior counsel on a special leave application to the High Court. The matter, Certain Lloyd’s Underwriters Subscribing to Contract No. IH00AAQS v John Cross, Mark George Thelander and Jill Maria Thelander [2012] HCA 56 involved the question of whether claims for personal injury damages based on intentional acts were considered claims for personal injury damages within the meaning of s 198D of the Legal Profession Act 1987 (NSW).

Prior to joining Levitt Robinson, Svetlana worked as a Consulting Lawyer in the Aviation Law Team at Carneys Lawyers where she acted for Plaintiffs involved in major international airline accidents and incidents involving domestic and international carrier liability provisions and the International Conventions. Svetlana was elected to serve as a Committee member on the Aviation Law Association of Australia and New Zealand Limited (ALAANZ) in mid-2017.

Svetlana has also worked on personal injury cases arising from motor vehicle accidents and workplace safety issues. Svetlana’s involvement in these matters extended to interviewing and liaising with plaintiffs and support witnesses both of an English and non-English speaking background.

Svetlana has served as Chair of the Business Law Committee and was the New South Wales Young Lawyer’s Representative on the Business Law Committee. Svetlana currently sits on the Executive Council of NSW Young Lawyers.

Svetlana has a basic understanding of Spanish and French.
