Expertise & Experience
Chrystalla has worked with Stewart Levitt since 1995 first as an Associate, then as a Senior Associate, and as Special Counsel before becoming a Partner in 2016.
With a career spanning over 25 years Chrystalla has had extensive experience in complex high level commercial litigation in the Supreme, Federal and Appellate courts in New South Wales, Victoria, South Australia and Queensland involving banking and finance disputes, property disputes including commercial lease disputes, trade practices issues, competition and consumer law disputes (including breach of ACL), joint venture disputes, breaches of directors' duties, shareholders’ disputes, disputes over commercial contracts, compulsory acquisitions, franchise disputes, insolvency matters, trust disputes, and in urgent applications for injunctions and freezing orders.
Chrystalla has advised and represented private and public companies, banks and high net worth individuals in Australia, Israel, USA, Greece, and Cyprus and insolvency practitioners across many jurisdictions in New South Wales and nationally.
She has distinguished herself in particularly complex estate disputes (including family provision claims and applications for financial management) , and successfully represented lawyers, accountants, medical practitioners, pharmacists, dentists, nurses and optometrists involved in investigations and regulatory inquiries by professional disciplinary bodies and regulators including by ASIC, ACCC, ATO, Law Society of NSW, Medical Board, Pharmacy Board, Optometry Board and in matters before the Nurses Tribunal.
Over the years Chrystalla has also acted for clients facing serious criminal charges by NSW State and Federal police agencies and instructed eminent Senior Counsel in landmark criminal trials including murder trials, sexual assault matters (including historical sexual offences), importation of commercial quantity of drugs, sexual slavery matters and white- collar fraud matters.
Chrystalla is recognised for her technical excellence, forensic mastery, legal acuity, impressive ability to analyse complex financial dealings, commercial acumen and unflinching determination to secure outstanding outcomes for her clients whether it be through litigation, mediation, arbitration or alternative dispute resolution.
Chrystalla has a loyal client base throughout Australia and as far afield as the US and her native Cyprus and is fully literate in the Greek language. Outside of work Chrystalla enjoys travel, reading, theatre, football and spending time with her family.
